Our Sustainability Promise

The wedding and events industry is often associated with excess, but we believe unforgettable celebrations can also be thoughtful, intentional, and lighter on the planet. While a truly zero‑waste bar doesn’t exist, we’ve built our services around practical, impactful choices that significantly reduce waste and environmental impact without sacrificing style or guest experience.
We approach sustainability on two levels: locally and holistically. We work to minimize litter and waste at every event we serve. Furthermore, we make business decisions that lower our overall carbon footprint — from how we source ingredients to how we transport, serve, and communicate.
Below are some of the ways Tipsy Gypsy creates more eco‑conscious bar experiences for weddings and celebrations.
Glassware First

Whenever possible, we prioritize real glassware. We offer glassware rental and delivery to reduce single‑use plastics and eliminate the need for additional delivery trucks. Our glassware inventory can accommodate large guest counts and includes wine glasses, beer glasses, cocktail glasses, and champagne flutes.

Recycling and Composting On-site
Our team is trained to be mindful about waste throughout your event. Bottles, cans, cardboard, and disposable supplies are properly sorted into recycling or compost bins whenever available, helping ensure materials end up where they belong.
Local and Regional Sourcing
We’re fortunate to operate in the Port Townsend, WA, where exceptional wineries, breweries, cideries, meaderies, and distilleries are right in our backyard. Whenever possible, we recommend local and regional beverages when building your bar menu. Supporting local producers often reduces transportation emissions, supports the local economy, and can even help manage costs.
Thoughtful Disposable Options

When glassware isn’t practical or preferred, we use high‑quality biodegradable and compostable tossware. These cups are designed to break down properly when composted — reducing plastic use while still holding up throughout the event. Our team collects the tossware and composts them correctly. Our tossware is also round bottomed - shaped like a stemless wine glass. Classy & Compostable!

Straw Optional Service
We don’t default to straws. That said, we understand guest preference matters. After many test trials, we’ve sourced durable paper straws that don’t disintegrate and can often be used for multiple drinks. Straws are always available upon request — just not automatic.
Digital-First Planning
To reduce paper waste, we operate entirely digitally. Contracts, invoices, payments, and planning communication are handled online.
Sustainability isn't just a trend - it's a responsibility
